Whether your a history buff, enthusiast or simply seeking a unique outing, discover some of the best preserved WW2 German fortifications in Europe today maintained by the C.I. Occupation Society (CIOS) since the late 1970s. Every site opened is unique from near operational restored condition bunkers including details of original crew members presented with a 'working atmosphere' feel to large sprawling underground multi-floored or multi-bunker complex's!
Strongpoint Corbiere formed a key part of the formidable defences of St. Ouen’s Bay and also boasted several bunker designs unique to Jersey. Visit the M19 5cm automatic fortress mortar bunker which is uniquely connected to a 6-loopholed heavy machine gun turret bunker by an impressive underground corridor.
The bunkers are authentically restored to their original wartime condition and displays are based around information given by the soldiers who actually served there and returned postwar! There is also information on the forced labourers who constructed the site and interactions between the soldiers with nearby civilians as well as an escape attempt which ended in failure on the causeway to the lighthouse in September 1944. Depending on volunteer availability the neighbouring restored 105mm coastal defence gun casemate "Kanone 2" which retains its original weapon plus a wealth of original fixtures will also be open!

Accessibility; Due to the Bunker designs you must be physically fit and able to walk unaided on rough and uneven terrain, there are steep stairs and other challenging factors.

This is a charity site maintained by volunteers and thanks to their hard work the site has been open to the public for the past 49 years! The CIOS is registered as Charity 49
Visiting WW2 bunkers and fortifications involves inherent risks, including trip hazards, low ceilings, and steep stairs. Sites are often damp, unlit, and uneven, requiring sturdy footwear and caution. Visitors enter at their own risk.

How to find us
You can find the Bunkers on the La Corbiere Headland by leaving the main road on the hairpin bend and head down the concrete road leading to the lighthouse causeway -look for the big red sail!
There are several parking areas in the immediate vicinity and the nearest bus to get is the 12a, 22 or x22 to the 'Corbiere' stop and head down the hill.
